Concerns mount over birth complications and injuries after caesarean section surgery A recent study in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology describes rapidly increasing caesarean section (c-section) surgeries over the past several years. With these increasing surgery numbers come birth complications and birth injuries. Doctors explain that the baby may have more breathing problems, infections or an injury that occurs during the surgery. They note that many parents are unaware of the potential complications that come along with this type of operation. In fact, it is the responsibility of the doctor to fully explain these risks to the infant. Some advocates explain that there are birth injuries and complications from normal vaginal births as well. Erb's palsy is a common birth injury, usually associated with vaginal deliveries. However, medical experts explain that a c-section surgery can also cause an Erb's palsy birth complication. Medical malpractice lawyers in one New York area describe increasing numbers of lawsuits due to Erb's palsy and other types of birth injuries. The recent study on c-sections may shed more light on this surge in birth related medical malpractice lawsuits. Patient advocates warn that doctors and patients must consider all of the possibilities before deciding to undergo a serious operation like a c-section. They wonder if this recent trend is really in the patient's best interest. Become a well informed patient by reading up more about this study.

Warehouse workers often injured at work but afraid to report injuries The New York Times reports that a recent study shows 20% of warehouse workers are hurt on the job. The study of warehouse workers includes both temporary and permanent workers and was compiled by the Center for Urban Economic Development. More troubling in the report is that about 33% of those who suffered a work injury did not report their injuries because of fear of losing their jobs. In fact, many of the workers who did report their injuries felt that their supervisors or bosses retaliated against them. Concerned labor lawyers explained the phenomena, saying that some of these laborers don't earn enough money to be able to afford losing their job. There is a hesitancy to make waves at work and so workers bury their work injury and pain. They can't easily walk away from the job and find another one either. In addition, worker's compensation funds can make it difficult for injured workers to receive proper medical care for their injuries. Long and difficult bureaucratic systems make general workers hesitate and scared. Workers comp lawyers have been helpful in advocating for their clients' rights and health. Injured workers are encouraged to seek the advice of an attorney if they feel their rights are being violated. More details on this recent study are available in this article.
